Get on the Google+ train

Is your restaurant a + or a -?

If you haven’t realised it yet Google is taking over the internet. Well the search element of it anyway. As their products continue to gain popularity all evidence points towards a consolidated service which will shape the way everyone uses the WWW.

For restaurants and hospitality businesses this means keeping up with developments and implementing new tools and strategies for online marketing.

Google+ (tied in closely with Google Places) is an important social media platform which cannot be ignored. Although far less widely used then Facebook and Twitter, it is quickly growing and will soon challenge other social media platforms for dominance.

Most restaurants are already stretched, so updating yet another social media account will not come as good news. However Google+ is something we recommend looking into. See below for reasons why.

  • Boost your search results. Having a Google Places and + account for your business will boost its ranking in Google search results. Using their products makes you more attractive and findable.

  • Increase visibility in maps. Google Maps is a dominant mapping service. Setting up your places and + page properly will highlight your business for people searching in your area.

  • Drive traffic to your website. Setting up your Google+ and linking it to your website will give prospective customers a better chance of finding you and checking out your website if they click through from your Google+ page.

  • Better compatibility with mobile devices. Google understands the use of mobile phones and tablets better than most. The functionality of their products makes it very easy for customers to call and book directly.

Social media and online marketing tools are growing ever more popular. With so much out there it’s easy to get swamped. Our advice, set yourself up on the big guns first. They will have the highest user figures and their dominance will help you find new customers and convert them into bookings.

Turn that – into a +
